5 WAYS to Find Furniture to Upcycle

Can you guess the answer?

These are questions I get asked so often.

Where do you find such great pieces of furniture to refinish?

Where do you shop?

Where should I look?

I think I can help you guys! Let’s get started.

  1. ASK – sounds easy enough but really, have you just asked around? I tell all of the people in my Creative Connection to make a post on all of their social media sites. Ask your friends and family if they are selling any furniture or if they plan to, would they please contact you first. You’d be amazed at how many people would love to give you free furniture if you are willing to pick it up and save them the hassle of hauling it off or storing until the next garage sale.

  2. Go to your local Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, etc. Ask to speak with the manager.  They are often more than willing to notify you when they get pieces in they know you’ll want to buy. That’s helping both of you and raising money for the stores.

  3. Go to your favorite thrift/antique shops and talk to the owner. Let them know what you do for a living. Offer your phone number to them and ask them to send you photos when the vendors bring in new furniture pieces, etc.

  4. Find a picker! Contact one of those vendors and they may be willing to bring things to you before they take them to their booth. That may also mean DELIVERY!!

  5. Lastly, create relationships on Facebook Marketplace.  If you notice, some people are making their living buying and selling. Notice who is posting new furniture every week. Again, ASK.

Grab you pen, make a list and hit the road.

Peace, love and happy hunting,
