Boho Living Room Inspiration

One of the best parts of being a creative is seeing where my works end up! I love it when clients and customers send me pictures of my art in their homes because it gives me a glimpse into who they are. Our rooms say a lot about us as people, especially when it comes to living room decor. The living room is the place where we invite people in to get comfortable, to sit and talk and enjoy each other’s company. It only makes sense that this is where many of us focus on our decor! We want to create a space that is cozy and inviting while also sharing a little piece of ourselves.

When it comes to decor, I live for all things boho! While it may seem like a catchall term, boho decor is really all about personalization through a few key elements.

Living Room Decor Ideas

Sometimes the most difficult part of interior design is simply just getting started! There are so many places to find inspiration that it can be a bit overwhelming, but the key to nailing down your personal boho style is to identify a few key elements that you can play with.

Inspired by Nature

Whenever I hit a creative block, I go outside. Why? Because nature is peaceful, beautiful, and inspirational. Bringing natural elements into your home can have the same effect! There are a lot of options to choose from but I enjoy using natural materials, like rattan and wicker, lots of flowers or plants, and incorporating natural elements and patterns into the room.

Color and Pattern

One of the key elements of boho style is the intrepid use of color and pattern. From painted furniture to bold rugs, there are a lot of opportunities to bring color into your room! I would add that texture plays an important role here, too! I have these gorgeous velvet chairs that bring warmth and luxury to the space. Don’t be afraid to mix colors and patterns!

Incorporating Art

Paintings, books, sculptures… whatever your creative collection looks like, incorporate it into your decor! I love displaying all of my reference books because so many of them have beautiful covers. Because I’m an artist, I have a rotating collection of canvas and furniture art, but I recommend choosing a few statement pieces to get the room started.

Home Decor Inspiration

I thought I’d share a few pictures of my living room to give you some inspiration!

This is one of my newest pieces, Northern Lights! It’s pretty obvious that I love painted furniture because who doesn’t want their furniture to be equal parts art and function? There are so many ways to incorporate color into a room but a bold piece of furniture happens to be my favorite.

I also like to play with depth and scale by stacking and layering different materials to create dimension. I think it really helps make a room feel more comfortable and lived in without looking cluttered.

When adding decor to your bookshelves and cases, start with the larges pieces first.

Feel free to think outside the box with your displays! There’s no rule that says books must all be stacked in the same direction.

Bring natural elements into your display for added character.
