'A Field of His Faithfulness'

A Field of His Faithfulness is the sixth original painting in my Faith Series—a collection created from prayer, trust, and a willingness to follow where the painting leads.

Before I began, I prayed around the canvas, asking God to guide my hands. I had no inspiration image for the field. No photograph I was trying to recreate. I simply began painting.

Almost the entire piece was created with my hands using natural clay-based paint. I worked intuitively, building layer upon layer of wildflowers until the field began to take on a life of its own. My fingers became the tools for the movement, texture, color, and imperfect shapes of the flowers.

The tiny chapel above the tree line is the exception. For that small detail, I picked up a brush.

I love that it sits quietly in the distance.

You may notice the chapel second—or fifth—or not until you’ve spent some time with the painting. For me, that feels appropriate. Faith does not always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it is simply there, steady on the horizon while life grows wildly in front of it.

The title A Field of His Faithfulness came after I shared the finished painting and invited my community into the naming process. The words felt immediately connected to what had happened on the canvas: abundance, beauty, trust, and evidence of something greater than what I could have planned myself.
