'Built on Faith'

Framed in a Gold Floater

48" x 48" | An Original Mixed Media Hand-Painted Artwork by Dionne Woods

Some paintings begin with an idea.

This one began with a prayer.

Before the first drop of clay-based paint touched the canvas, I quietly walked around it in prayer. Inspired by The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson, I asked God to guide my hands and create something that reflected His peace more than my plans.

As I stood before the blank canvas, I realized this painting was becoming more than a landscape.

It was becoming a reflection of the season I find myself living.

A season filled with milestones.
A season of letting go.
A season of new beginnings.

This painting was created entirely with my hands through my intuitive fingerpainting process. Every layer of lavender, every rolling hillside, every cloud, and every detail of the white farmhouse was formed through touch alone. There is no brush separating me from the canvas—only my hands, the natural clay-based paint, and the quiet rhythm of creating.

That process has become an act of trust.

Each layer reminds me that we don't always need to see the finished picture before taking the next faithful step.

Although I have never stood in a lavender field, I found myself painting one with surprising clarity. Perhaps faith often works that way. It allows us to envision places our hearts already know, even before our feet have arrived.

The white farmhouse resting beyond the lavender became a symbol of home, peace, and the promises waiting on the other side of faithful perseverance. The winding rows invite the viewer to look beyond the immediate and toward the horizon, reminding us that some of life's most meaningful destinations are built one faithful step at a time.

The title, Built on Faith, reflects both the painting and the journey behind it.

It is a reminder that the strongest foundations are rarely built on certainty.

They are built on trust.

This original mixed media landscape is for the collector who values meaningful artwork, expressive landscapes, contemporary impressionist art, and pieces that tell a deeper story long after the first glance.

May it remind you that faith is not about seeing the entire path.

It is about trusting the One who walks it with you. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." — Proverbs 3:5–6
