Come pull up a chair and paint with me.
You don’t need to know how to draw.
You don’t need watercolor experience.
And you definitely don’t need to know how to paint a perfect flower. In fact…
NO PERFECT FLOWERS ALLOWED.
We’re going to spend an afternoon letting watercolor do some of what watercolor does best—move, bleed, bloom, blend and surprise us.
I’ll walk you step-by-step through my approach to creating loose, expressive watercolor florals without obsessing over every petal or trying to make your painting look exactly like mine.
Because I don’t want you to learn to paint like me.
I want to help you discover what happens when you loosen up enough to paint like you.
Saturday, October 10 | 1–4 PM CT | Live Online | $49

Creativity Is Better Together
You don’t hold back anything.
“I had the best time! This is so much fun to paint free and to make a mess! Thank you for spending your day with us!”
— Pia
Your courses are so much fun!
“I signed up for your Crowned in Color course and your abstract floral painting. I’m excited for my order to come so I can get started on the hats. Your courses are so much fun, and you have so much energy and positivity! Thank you for being you!”
— Cathy
The best day I’ve had in months.
“I’ve had the best time today. It’s the best day I’ve had in months, and first time I’ve felt like myself in a very long time. Truly. I felt joy again. It was great to get into the creative flow today and I had a wonderful time. I didn’t hesitate to sign up when you posted the workshop. It was a limited commitment that was just what I needed right now. Thank you!”
— Kerry
“It was wonderful! I enjoyed it very much!”
— Porsha
PAINT.
We’ll begin at the art table.
I’ll teach you how I approach loose watercolor florals using color, water, brush movement, layering and simple shapes to suggest flowers rather than perfectly render them.
We’ll talk about what happens when colors run together, how much water to use, creating movement and composition—and what to do when the watercolor decides to do something you weren’t expecting.
Especially then.
You’ll create your own loose floral watercolor alongside me, step-by-step.
No drawing skills required. No watercolor experience required.
Just bring your supplies and a willingness to play.
STYLE.
Once we’ve made something beautiful, we’re not putting it away.
I’m going to show you how I take a piece of artwork and create beautiful imagery around it.
You’ll learn simple ways to:
- Style your artwork using things you already own
- Choose backgrounds and props
- Find beautiful natural light
- Photograph your artwork with your iPhone
- Capture overhead, detail and lifestyle images
- Create photographs you’ll actually want to share
You don’t need a professional camera.
You don’t need a photography studio.
Your phone, your art and a little intention can go a long way.
MULTIPLY.
And then I’m going to ask you one of my favorite questions:
What else could this become?
One watercolor can become more than one watercolor.
A print.
A greeting card.
A notecard.
Stationery.
A journal cover.
A gift tag.
A pattern.
A digital product.
A beautiful photograph.
A week’s worth of content.
Maybe even the beginning of an idea you haven’t thought of yet.
I’ll show you examples and share resources that can help you explore some of these possibilities for yourself.
Your art never has to become a product to be valuable.
Creating it was already worthwhile.
But if you’ve ever looked at something you’ve made and wondered, What else could I do with this?—I’m going to help you answer that question.
ONE AFTERNOON. ONE PAINTING. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.
By the end of our afternoon together, you’ll have:
- Your own loose watercolor floral painting
- A better understanding of water, color and expressive brushwork
- More confidence creating without overthinking
- Simple styling techniques for your artwork
- Practical iPhone photography tips
- Ideas for transforming one piece of artwork into multiple creative possibilities
- My recommended resources for taking those ideas further
- Access to the workshop replay
Most importantly, I hope you’ll leave looking at your own creativity a little differently.
Not asking: “Did I do it right?”
But instead: “What else could I make?”
A Few Questions Before You Join Us?
Do I need watercolor experience?
Not at all. This workshop is designed to be approachable whether you’re brand new to watercolor or have been painting for years. Dionne will walk you through her loose, expressive approach step by step. No perfect flowers allowed!
What supplies will I need?
You’ll receive a supply list so you can have everything ready before we meet. You don’t need an elaborate setup or a studio full of supplies to participate.
What if I can’t attend live?
No problem. A replay will be available after the workshop, so you can watch on your own schedule or revisit the lesson after painting along live.
Do I have to be interested in making products from my art?
Absolutely not. Come because you want to paint! Learning Dionne’s watercolor technique and creating your own loose floral is at the heart of the workshop. The styling, photography, and product ideas are there to show you what else is possible with what you create.
Do I need a fancy camera or photography equipment?
No. Dionne will share approachable ideas for styling and photographing your artwork using tools you likely already have. No professional photography setup required.
Is this workshop only for artists who sell their work?
Not at all. You don’t need a business, a shop, or any intention of selling what you create. Maybe your painting becomes a card or gift. Maybe it inspires another project. Maybe you frame it and keep it. The goal is to help you create first, then see where that creativity might take you.
