What if the most powerful creative tool you have… is already attached to your hands?
In this 3-hour online creative wellness workshop, I’ll guide you through the joyful and liberating experience of finger painting on canvas—a process that invites you to let go of perfection, reconnect with your intuition, and rediscover the pure joy of creating.
No brushes. No pressure. Just color, movement, and expression.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or someone who simply misses the feeling of playing with paint, this workshop will open the door to freedom, flow, and creative renewal.
Why Finger Painting?
When I first started finger painting more than seven years ago, two thoughts crossed my mind at the exact same moment:
This is the most fun I’ve had in a long time. And… I hope no one thinks this is childish.
Isn’t it funny how we often associate fun with being childish?
Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that creativity had to be controlled, polished, or serious.
But the truth is… Creativity thrives on play.
Finger painting removes the barrier between you and the canvas. It allows you to connect directly with the paint, the color, and your own natural rhythm of expression.
It has become one of the most powerful tools in my own creative practice—helping me move through creative blocks and return to a place of flow and presence.
And I’d love to share this experience with you.
This Adult Finger Painting Workshop is for you if you want to:
💙 Break free from perfectionism in your art
💙 Experience the joy of painting without rules
💙 Reignite your creative flow
💙 Try something playful and expressive
💙 Connect with other creative women
💙 Explore art as a form of wellness and self-expression
You do not need to be a professional artist.
In fact, sometimes beginners have the most fun because they aren’t carrying years of expectations with them.
All you need is curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
What We’ll Explore Together
During this immersive workshop, I’ll guide you through several creative exercises designed to help you loosen up and trust your instincts.
We’ll explore:
- How to start a finger painting from scratch
- Creating beautiful blended backgrounds using your hands
- Building texture and movement in your paintings
- Fingerpainted florals and expressive marks
- Letting go of “mistakes” and embracing the unexpected
- Entering a creative flow state through intuitive movement
You’ll watch me demonstrate techniques step-by-step, and then you’ll have time to paint alongside me in real time.
This is not a rigid class. It’s an experience.
The Creative Wellness Benefits
Finger painting isn’t just fun—it’s incredibly beneficial for your mind and body.
Research shows that hands-on creative activities activate multiple areas of the brain and can:
- Lower stress levels
- Improve focus and presence
- Stimulate the brain’s sensory and motor systems
- Boost dopamine (your brain’s feel-good chemical)
The physical connection between your hands and the paint creates a meditative state that allows your mind to slow down and your creativity to expand.
In a world filled with screens and constant noise, this kind of tactile experience is deeply restorative.
Finger Painting Is a Real Art Form
Finger painting has a rich artistic history, embraced by both contemporary and folk artists.
Notable artists who have used finger painting include:
- Ruth Faison Shaw – often called the mother of finger painting
- Iris Scott – internationally recognized for her vibrant finger-painted works
- Jimmy Lee Sudduth – celebrated folk artist known for painting with natural pigments
- Flora Bowley – pioneer of intuitive painting and expressive creative process
- Tracy Verdugo – mixed-media artist who encourages spontaneous mark-making
These artists prove that painting with your hands is not childish—it’s powerful.
What You’ll Create
During the workshop, you’ll complete one expressive finger-painted canvas, while also learning techniques you can use again and again in your own creative practice.
The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is freedom.
Many artists tell me that finger painting becomes their favorite way to break through creative blocks and reconnect with their artistic voice.
Supplies
You’ll receive a simple supply list after registration, but most participants will already have many of the materials.
You don’t need anything fancy.
In fact, the simpler the setup, the better.
